Day before weekend
Friday 27 February
Wichert:
Today was just another normal school day. I got up at 7:30 and prepared for breakfast. This goes a lot faster now if you compare it to the first school day. I now manage to get my suit on in less than 3 minutes + tie. So we managed to get to the breakfast in time. We had bacon, scrambled eggs and beans. It was a prety nice breakfast. After breakfast we followed the following subjects: two ours of science, two hours of economy, one hour of dutch, and two hours of physics and than science again. After school Jeroen and I decided to play some hockey to prepare for the match of tomorrow. While we were practicing the coach of the team that was playing a match on the other field came to us and asked us if we would like to participate. So we could play for the last 10 minutes of the match we did prety well and created a lot of oppurtunities for our teammates. After the hockey match we went back to the six form house. It was very quiet there because all the children were going home to their parents so that evening we were only with about 8 people in the house. We missed the dinner because nobody had told us that the dinner time was moved back to 17:00 instead of 18:00 hours. So we ordered some pizza. We went to bed at 12:00 o'clock.

The day I was Sick
Tuesday 24 february
Jeroen:
I woke up and I allready knew I wouldn't go to the lessons that day. Wichert had to get Mr Clapp and therefore Wichert missed his breakfast again for me. That morning I went to the Medical Center of Reeds to see a nurse. She said I had to see a doctor in neighborhood to check if I needed any medicines, but I already knew I would just have a little cold. The woman who takes care of the sixth form house took me to the doctor. She was a very kind woman. The Doctor said I just had a flu. That day was a quite boring day, because I just did nothing but lie in my bed and rest. I listened to music and slept for some time. After that I met Wichert at lunch. I was so hungry, because I hadn't eaten anything yet that day. The rest of the day I also didn't do much. Only a bit of computering.
That evening I went to bed early.

First day school
Monday 23 February
Jeroen:
That morning I had to wake up so early. Although I knew it would be an exciting first day of school. We missed breakfast because we woke up to late. First someone brought us to Tutor group. That is a sort of mentor class. You have registration every morning to check if everybody is at school. After that we went to Mr Atkins for making our schedule. We chose the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Science and Economics. We chose them, because they correspond with the subjects at Rijnlands Lyceum. After the chat with Mr Atkins we made our way to our first lesson Physics. In physics we talked about electricity and temperature. It was quite difficult, but I got the hang of it. After physics we had dutch where we could make our dutch homework. We talked with the dutch teacher Mrs Dijkshoorn. We could ask her questions about the activity's we wanted to do. Then we had our first double hour of science. In science we had to choose out 5 drinks wich we would test on dyes the coming wednesday. After that we could have an early lunch. Lunch here is fabulous, because you have so much choice. And it is so much better than the food I get in in holland in Renswoudehuis. The negative side of the food is that it's quite fat making food. Our last two hours of the day were economics. I found it rather difficult, because of the terms. Nevertheless it was a whole lot of fun.
That evening after a delightful dinner I did something very stupid. We were working on a computer with a cd in it. I wanted to charge my ipod in the wall-plug with a converter. And then "BOOM" black smoke came out my charger and it stank to molten plastic. I was shocked. The 2 computers around it fell out and there came the second problem. Our cd was still in the computer and the computer didn't go on again. The only way was to find a paperclip and bend it, so you could open the cd tray without breaking it. So eventually after searching a long time we could open the tray. That night I didn't feel well, I had a headache, cough and stomachache.
Wichert:
I was woken by the very annoying sound of the school bell. I hated that sound and it was after ten minutes that I had found the power to get out of my bed. Breakfast started at 7:45 so I had to hurry up. If I was allowed to wear normal clothing I would have easily made it but that wasn't the case. I had to wear a suit. When I was dressed it was already 7:45 and I didn't know how to do my tie. Luckily enough Jeroen learned it from his mother a few days earlier so he could teach me how to do my tie. By the time we were ready it was already 8:10 so we had officially missed our first breakfast.
At 8:20 we had to go to registration. This normally takes 30 minutes and its purpose is to check if all the students are there and if everbody is happy. Also when something special is going on it will be discussed during registration. Our tutor for that lesson is Mrs. Nevins. She normally teaches English and she is very nice. After ten minutes most of the children left to go to the assembly. We didn't have to go there because we had to get our time table from Mr. Atkins. He is also a really nice man. We are following four subjects because we are doing A level. The subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Science and Economics. We have 8 hours of chemistry in the week for example, so Mr. Blom will be proud of us. After we picked up our time table we went straight on to Physics. The first thing I noticed was how small the classes were, only 15 people max. The Physics wasn't to hard because we had already done this subject in the Netherlands. All about moments and stuff only they go further into the subject which Jeroen and I liked. After Physics Jeroen and I met our Dutch tutor Mrs. Dijkshoorn. She normally teaches dutch. It was nice to speak Dutch to someone again. Mrs. Dijkshoorn told us which activities we could do and we chose Hockey and maybe Basketball. Sadly enough there was no cricket or rugby available. So after we had met Mrs. Dijkshoorn we went to Science, which was a lot of fun because we were doing a chromotography practical. We had to chose 5 drinks in which we had to investigate how much colour dyes were in them. After chemistry we had our first lunch. The lunch was very nice I had pasta and I nice desert from which I can't remember the name, but it tasted nice. When we were finished with our lunch we went to economics. This was prety difficult in the beginning because we had to learn all the English terms first before we could understand a thing, so we kept on asking when we didn't understand. After school we went computering and go to diner. I was so tired that I went to bed at 10 o'clock.

First Day
Sunday 22 february
Jeroen:
This day we flew over to Gatwick Airport. It was a very short flight only 45 minutes. It was like we were just at the right height and the plane was already descending. Arrived at Gatwick airport we asked if we could take a look in the cockpit. We chatted for a short time with the pilot. It was very interesting. After that we got our luggage which came very quickly. I phoned the taxidriver and we waited outside for the taxi to come. It was a 30 minute drive to Reeds school.
We were greeted by Ian Clapp the house master of the sixth form house. He gave a little tour around the house and showed us our rooms. We unpacked our luggage. We meat some boys named Toby and Tim (a dutch boy). There were not many boarders back yet. That evening Mr Clapp ordered some pizza's for us two and Toby to eat. It were very nice english dominos pizza's. Normally I don't like dominos pizza's, but these ones were very good. The special thing was that garlic sauce was given with the pizza, typically english. I liked it. The funny thing was Toby could also play with a Rubiks cube like me. We did a match and unfortunately he won.
More and more boarders came back that evening.
Wichert:
Finally the big day had arrived. The day we were going to Reeds. I had been really looking forward to it and today it was finally the day. I got up quite early in the morning because I had not packed anything because I had come back from snowcamp the day before and my mom was busy washing all my clothes. When I had finished all the packing of my stuff I said good bye to my father because he had to stay home for the dog.. Before we went to the airport we first went to Steph to pick her up, because then Steph and I could say good bye to each other. So together with Jeroen my mother, my sister and Steph we went to the airport. We where way to early so my mom decided to go to the Starbucks and get something to drink. After the Starbucks it was time to say goodbye to my family and Steph. I was really sad when I walked through the customs. I waved for the last time to my family and friends.
There I was suddenly on my own. When we were waiting for the flight I phoned my family for the last time that everything had gone alright and than we got on the plane.
The flight was really short it was only 45 minutes. Before the seatbelt sign had turned off it already went on because we were decending again. After we had landed on Gatwick airport we had a quick chat with the pilot and a look in the cockpit. When we had picked up our luggage we phoned our cab driver that we had arrived and he picked us up. A funny thing was that the cab driver had lived in a lot of the same places as jeroen did.
When we were entering the surroundings of Reeds we started to recognize a few things we had seen two years ago. There it was the familiar Reeds building. The cab stopped in front of the door and Mr. Clapp was already waiting for us. He showed us our rooms in the sixth form house. The rooms are not really big but everything you need is in them. A desk, bed, closet and also a few shelves to store some books on. We decided to unpack our stuff. When we were finished we went to the computer room. Mr. Clapp came over to tell us that he had ordered some pizza for us. It was really quiet in the house because most of the people were still on holiday. While we were eating the people most of them start to come in. We were so tired that we went to bed early. Our first day on Reeds was a nice experience.
